Music...er...is it Tuesday Already????
This is William's drum teacher and my good buddy, Bill Cerulli, performing on Midnight Special, a million years ago in another life...when I was a mere doe in high school who spent her weekends hanging out at Studio 54, soon to work there in the office, etc....and such began the legend...um...yeah...
Bill is the drummer in this band, (as opposed to the percussionist,) and even as a baby back then he was a great drummer....still is today. And dare I say it, knowing little of drumming myself, my kid is a great drummer!

Of course you have to look past the hair and the evening gowns and the feather boas -- the women are all done up like Miss Piggy. :) What's really impressive is that this is a live performance (not a lip-sync) and she had a female bass player. How often does THAT happen?
It was more common than you'd think in those days. The (only, probably) good thing about disco was that it showcased these strong women singers.
Vicki can really sing and they traveled all over the world on this one song...and she was so much better than this song...but, hell, I guess you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. She had a killer band.
Its just too bad that the club world didnt showcase the bands more. It was always like the lights went out at midnight and the DJ put the track on and in a whoosh of fog, there was Grace Jones or...whoever...
We did what amounted to a "sound check" during the day...but really it was just a mic and the singer practicing in the high heels on the catwalk.
And...I think that Ms. Piggy was a takeoff on these disco women...wasn't she supposed to be a wannabe? I loved ms piggy and couldn't be happier that they are bringing the Muppets back.
