Congratulations Will & Ben!

Yeah, both of 'em graduated from Middle School...Last week Ben, and yesterday Will...and I can't, for the life of me, remember this particular occasion being such a big deal in my life, but...so long my middle school alma mater...and I guess it is a big step to go to high school.
So, if anyone has been wondering where Ive been, whats been up, how things are going, the answer is this: Busy, end o' middle school nonsense, preparation for where these guys go next year, and the summer camp buy-o-rama...
And though uncle Bush sent me my stimulus, I'm not using it on anything frivolous like sleeping bags and canteens. No, I'm gonna try to pay down my debt. Hah! Good luck with that!
Gas is actually $4.59/gal +/- .20 here, and diesel is $5.00 +/+....so this stim is likely a giveback to the oil companies in some sick trickle up plan. But then, isn't the whole Bush deal a big old trickle up bamboozle?
So, here are the young dems of tomorrow, and they are pretty pissed about what we've done to their world. We'd better get on it...but honestly, it sometimes seems like it may just be too late for them to ever be able to enjoy some of the simples pleasures of life and the innocence that we didn't even know was slipping away back there in Brooklyn.

Get that boy a haircut! Jeez! (Just kidding.) Congrats to Will and Ben indeed, and congrats to you on getting the two of them through it.
As for the world they're going to live in, it makes me sad to think about it. Saturday I drove down the GSP to exit 142 to get my hair done and there was NO shore traffic at 9 AM! The day trip "down the shore" -- a Jersey rite for as long as I've been around -- is endangered because of high fuel prices. When people are tempted to vote for McCain, point to their kids and ask what kind of world they want to leave THEM!
Congratulate them both for me.
umm. what did they tell you the horn sign meant?
I believe its a heavy metal, rock and roll thing...something about satanism and maybe having to do with their favorite drummer from Slipknot...
In any case, it seems to be Will's thing this year...
Is there anything I should know, Jim?...I'm not gonna worry till there are pentagrams, voodoo dolls that look like me, and bunches of my hair half burnt up in the woods...but really, basically they are very good boys, and they try SO hard to be bad. They just don't have access to the bad the way we did! Or maybe they're not as resourceful, aka lazy!!
Just as well in this day and age;-)
heh!
"I believe its a heavy metal, rock and roll thing..."
actually has quite a history...
thumb out with horns is sign language for 'I love you'
this is a pretty good riff on it:

"They just don't have access to the bad the way we did!"
heh! i have some left over from my wild days, glad to share.
yep...this would explain it (some of which I'm horrified to find myself referring to as "noise":
"While some confuse the corna as a demonic sign relating to satanic music, it was actually first used by Ronnie James Dio, a heavy metal singer associated with such acts as Elf, Dio, and Black Sabbath and Rainbow. Dio picked it up from his devoutly Catholic grandmother, with whom he was very close. His grandmother said it was to grab the evil eye, and keep it at arm's length. One can see the gesture used many times by Dio, as well as in concerts. It lives on in the legacy of many bands, particularly thrash. Bands associated with the corna include Slayer, Metallica, Dio, Black Sabbath, In Flames, Nirvana, Blind Melon, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, The Beastie Boys, Avril Lavigne, Mudvayne, Tool, Buckcherry, Korn, Blue Man Group, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Hootie and the Blowfish, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Buckethead, Kylie Minogue, Prussian Blue, Danzig, Whitesnake, White Lion, Green Day, The Doors, Panic! At the Disco, Blink 182, and The Partridge Family."

He thinks he's being all metal and occultish and badass, but in reality he's saying "I love you, mommy!"
That's freakin' hilarious. And it makes me go all, "Awwwww......."
